Michael Lalande (LLB)

mini´«Ă˝ - Law Alumni - Success StoriesAs a Canadian Criminology student, I imagined I would spend a copious amount of time applying to, and then attending, law school in Canada, then I discovered The mini´«Ă˝. The condensed course schedule and scenic location of the University allowed me to commit myself fully to the study of law without the distractions of a large city.  I completed my LLB in two years and entered the job market years before my Canadian counterparts. The extra years afforded to me allowed me to gain invaluable experience and allowed me to build my network.

Additionally, once I entered the legal market I learned fast that Bay Street required skills that could not be faked and, without a proper structure, your legal career can fail to progress.

Due to the exemplary instruction and guidance, I obtained from The mini´«Ă˝, I always felt like I was ahead of the curve.

After I returned from The mini´«Ă˝ I worked as a law student as Shaw, McClellan & Ironside in Collingwood, Ontario in general practice and then articled at a boutique criminal, civil and employment law firm in Oakville, Ontario.

I’m currently engaged as e-Discovery Counsel in McCarthy TĂ©trault’s Toronto office, where I provide advice to clients on a wide range of litigation and regulatory matters, including class actions and Competition Bureau supplementary information requests. I have managed and supervised a number of e-Discovery projects for both private and public sector clients, assisting them with complex, large-scale litigation, information governance and due diligence matters.
